What brand of miter saw? That might have been the problem. Loved the story, Chris. Ridiculous. Gross. Perfect ending.

On a personal note - yesterday, my son complained about an itch on the underside of his foot that he couldn’t seem to scratch, was crying about it in fact. I had to go in another room so he wouldn’t see me laughing.

Craftsman. He should’ve went with the Bosch.

This story came about after I experienced two days of Devil’s Itch from a severe sunburn. I didn’t get as desperate as this guy, but it was truly awful.

One of the things I like about writing is that we can take a mundane experience like a sunburn and turn it into something extraordinary like a dude amputating his foot with a miter saw. Now I’m wondering what I could do with a hangnail or a ball of belly button lint…

the first four chapters were just appetizers, getting us ready for the main course of a DIY amputation. uncomfortable to read, and a job well done not rushing through the scene.

You almost lost me in this chapter. The amputation of the foot... wow. Amazing writing.

Thank you for sticking it out!

(Not So) Fun Fact: I ruptured my Achilles tendon in 2013, so that sharp pop and feeling of getting hit in the leg by a bat is 100% accurate.

🫣 Ugh!! That sounds so awful. Well, you described it very well.
